We are pleased to announce that Scafol is now an RICS Tech Network Solution Provider. The RICS Tech Network has officially gone live, and Scafol is listed in the Residential Survey and Valuation category alongside other organisations building technology for the profession.
Scafol was created by qualified surveyors who wanted better tools for the job. Being part of a network designed to connect RICS members and regulated firms with the technology that supports their work is a natural fit for us, and a milestone we are proud to share.
What is the RICS Tech Network?
The RICS Tech Network brings together organisations and thought leaders who are using technology to address challenges across the built and natural environment and to drive innovation across the sector. It connects RICS members and RICS regulated firms with Solution Providers offering products and services across data, technology and AI.
The Network is organised into six areas: Residential Survey and Valuation, Residential Agency and Property Management, Valuation and AVMs, Construction, Commercial Property and FM, and Land and Planning. It covers technology built for professional use by surveyors and firms. Consumer facing products are not included.
The platform is self serve. Members and firms can explore participating providers, discover technology relevant to their work and deal with those providers directly to make informed decisions about what suits their practice.
What participation means, and what it does not
We think it is important to be clear about this. Before joining the Network, participating organisations must meet defined eligibility requirements and go through due diligence checks. Those checks concern the organisation and whether it belongs in the Network. They are not a test of how well a product performs, and RICS does not assess or certify individual products or services.
Participation in the RICS Tech Network does not constitute RICS certification, accreditation, approval, recommendation, endorsement or verification of any product or service. Firms should always carry out their own checks before selecting a solution, and we actively welcome that scrutiny. We would much rather a firm sees Scafol working on a real instruction than takes anyone’s word for it.
Why this matters to us as surveyors
Scafol was built from the ground up because the software we were using in practice did not reflect the way surveyors actually work. Too much time was lost between the inspection and the finished report, and compliance too often felt like something added at the end rather than built into the process.
Surveying is a regulated profession. The technology that supports it should help surveyors meet their professional obligations at every stage, while leaving professional judgement exactly where it belongs: with the surveyor. That principle sits at the centre of everything we build, and it is why the aims of the RICS Tech Network resonate with us.
What Scafol offers
Scafol is a purpose built survey writing and management platform for residential surveyors across the UK. It brings the entire workflow, from first enquiry through to final report delivery, into one secure, cloud based application.
- Onsite data capture: record observations and photographs on site, including offline, with annotation as you go. Everything syncs automatically once you reconnect and flows straight into the report.
- RICS aligned templates: built in templates for Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys, Expert Witness and Housing Disrepair assessments, and Scott Schedule reporting.
- Custom template editor: build your own inspection report templates around the way your practice works.
- AI assisted writing: support with drafting and wording, with the surveyor reviewing, editing and approving every word before issue.
- Integrated CRM and lead management: lead integrations, automated lead tracking and follow up emails, conversion and reporting analytics, and lead source management.
- Automated photo embedding and secure storage: photographs placed into the correct report sections, with reports and data held securely.
- Integrations: a growing range of connections to trusted third party tools, including Sprift for upfront property data.
The result is that reports which once took days can be delivered within 24 hours, without compromising professional standards. Scafol is used by independent surveyors, regional firms and national surveying networks throughout the UK.
Responsible use of AI
AI is changing how surveying work gets done, and RICS has been clear that responsibility for its use, and for any reliance placed on its outputs, remains with the member and their firm. The RICS professional standard Responsible use of artificial intelligence in surveying practice sets out those expectations, including the questions firms should ask suppliers before relying on AI generated content.
We welcome those questions. Within Scafol, AI is there to reduce repetitive writing and administration, not to replace the surveyor’s inspection, judgement or sign off. Nothing leaves the platform without the surveyor’s review and approval. If your firm is working through its supplier due diligence under the standard, we are happy to talk through how our tools work in detail.
Looking ahead
RICS has said the Network will continue to evolve in response to member feedback, industry developments and emerging technology. We look forward to contributing to that conversation, building on our involvement in RICS webinars on data, analytics and technology in residential surveying, and supporting the profession through CPD, education and practical insight.
The inaugural RICS Technology and AI Summit takes place on 30 November 2026, focused on helping built and natural environment professionals move from experimentation to informed adoption. It is a timely moment for the profession, and one we are keen to be part of.
